God is your protector and wants to hear about what’s on your heart
06/12/2018 .Breaking out of Bitterness
So… you just got invited to three bridal showers, a baby shower, and you just saw a post on Instagram of one of your besties who got engaged. Yep, it’s that season where you put on a big smile and give the tightest congratulations hug you can. It’s not to say that you aren’t genuinely happy for them, of course you are! You know you’ll be the first one to cheer when the bride and groom share their first kiss and one of the first people at the hospital when the baby is born. But it’s those nights when you’re home alone, just finished binge watching Netflix and you end up stuck in your thoughts. It’s at that moment when a wave of loneliness, envy, and bitterness hits you. When will it be my turn? Is he even going to propose? it’s been two years! Does God even have someone for me or do I have the gift of ‘’singleness’’?
What do you do when that moment comes?
Don’t beat yourself up
Don’t waste your energy having a pity party moment. You’re only human and it’s normal to wonder what lies ahead for you.
Both the world and the church tend to put pressure on us to be married by the time we turn twenty five. So when it doesn’t happen by that time, doubt and fear begin to set in. It’s important to know that the enemy wants to steal your joy and will use your feelings of loneliness as a means to do so. God does not give us the feelings of envy, bitterness, and loneliness, but rather, He gives us the feelings of joy and peace. The more we stay stuck in our negative feelings, the more likely we are to miss the joy God has in store for us next.
Turn to God
God is your protector and wants to hear about what’s on your heart. Of course, God already knows what you are feeling, but he wants to hear it from you. Have an honest conversation and ask God to change your heart and give you discernment concerning your view on relationships. God wants nothing more than to give us the desire of our hearts. So, when you ask for discernment God will provide you help.
If you are still having doubts, remember Jeremiah 29:11, ‘'’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”’ Stick that verse on your bathroom mirror and declare that God has an amazing plan for your life!

You’re not alone
Yes, it’s difficult to see your friends and family stepping into the next stage of life, but, that doesn’t mean it’s too late for you. God allows all his children to experience their own unique experiences in life. Use the season you’re in to please God and continue to improve your walk with Him.
