How to Love more like Christ

In Mark 12, Christ shares the two most important commandments: love the Lord God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself. We cannot love God, our neighbors, and ourselves in our own strength. As the book, Emotionally Healthy Relationships, instructs: “We need Jesus’ love to flow into us if it is to flow out of us.”
As the body of Christ, we belong to each other and desperately need one another’s love, but few of us know how to radically love the way Jesus called us to do. Maturing spiritually should be a top priority for Christian women, yet few have a plan for developing their spiritual lives.
In Emotionally Healthy Relationships, authors Peter and Geri Scazzero provide eight lessons to nurture relationships, resolve conflicts, and understand how God crafted us so that we can become the best versions of who God created us to be. The message is clear: “Loving others and loving God cannot be separated so, the fruit of a mature spirituality is to be an incarnational presence to another person.”
This is hard work. But the book coupled with the devotional, Emotionally Healthy Relationships Day by Day, gives readers a pathway into growing, healing, and maturing into their authentic selves in Christ while also positively impacting the lives of those around us.
Who of us isn’t longing for joy in our relationships? Just think what the world would look like if our relationship with Christ was so strong, we could truly live out Jesus’ commandment to love our neighbors. Our emotional health would have a positive ripple effect on our families, our neighbors, our cities, and the world. The more we love like Christ, the more God’s dream for our world comes true.
