November 19, 2010 Decade of Destiny Update #15 Dear Saddleback family, I recently joined Saddleback members who fanned out all across Southern California to begin delivering free Thanksgiving dinners to families in need. On this specific day, we were taking them to families where the kids have been participating in our G.R.I.P. partnership: Gang Reduction and Intervention Partnership. Over 450 at-risk kids – the ones that gangs prey on – agreed to stay in school, have no unexcused absences, and to raise their grades this fall through this program. In return, each of these kids won a full Thanksgiving dinner to present to their own families. You should have seen the faces of these kids light up with pride as we delivered the Thanksgiving dinners to them to present to their own families, along with a Certificate of Accomplishment! The Orange County District Attorney's office, several city police departments, and school districts joined Saddleback in this great community project – all thanks to your contributions and service!
