1-Year Anniversary South Bay
01/23/2017 .In our Daring Faith commitment to Fill God's house, we’ve launched four new campuses, strengthened all our existing campuses, strategically relocated three campuses, and found permanent buildings for several of our church homes.
On December 20, 2015, Saddleback South Bay launched with members from our other neighboring campuses including Newport Mesa, Anaheim, and LA. In celebration of their one-year anniversary, South Bay hosted a gathering with desserts and cookie decorating for kids.
In the brief 12 months the campus has been running, they’ve reached nearly 450 in weekly attendance and have baptized 48 people. They’ve also relocated from Torrance High School to the Torrance Cultural Arts Center, where they’ve been meeting since July.
Last month, South Bay moved baptisms on-site, including a special event on their anniversary. This will allow them to , offer baptisms monthly after both services. Additionally, Saddleback Kids has grown from 10 kids in the first month to currently over 60. This level of growth has resulted in planned development of new SK classrooms to accommodate even larger numbers.
According to Campus Administrator Leisl Stoufer, “Throughout the past year, we’ve seen our campus grow and thrive. We’ve been through several transitions but our members continue to trust God and serve faithfully despite changes in venue, weather, and staff.”
Saddleback South Bay has become known as a campus comprised of passionate, committed people who love God and the community. Rain or shine, their dedicated volunteers faithfully set up campus each week to assure residents have a place to worship.
“We heard countless stories of people who prayed for Saddleback to move to the South Bay area,” says Leisl. “For many, the campus is an answer to prayer. We continue to give thanks to Saddleback and the Daring Faith campaign, and can't wait to see what God will do in 2017!”
South Bay isn’t the only Saddleback campus that recently celebrated anniversary milestones. Aliso Viejo launched in December 2015, and Rancho Capistrano and Anaheim both launched in December 2010. In December 2014, Irvine South moved from Northwood High School into their new building on Teller Avenue. The following December, they launched their regional PEACE Center, a Daring Faith initiative to assist people in need.
“These were Christmas gifts for us,” says Kevin Nguyen, Pastor of Saddleback Irvine South.
