First PEACE Practical of 2017
01/23/2017 .In an effort to meet our Daring Faith goal of helping take the Good News to the last 3,000 unreached tribes, nearly 150 members attended PEACE Practical, our quarterly global PEACE gathering. Held on Sunday, January 22 at our Lake Forest campus, the event was a time of building community, training members, and providing access to global missions opportunities at Saddleback.
As the first PEACE Practical of 2017, members gathered to celebrate the beginning of a new year, and to engage in a time of prayer and worship. With fresh opportunities and a new focus on the final frontier project, the Global PEACE community was excited to start off the Year of Hope and missions together.
Held from 3:00–6:00 PM, the meeting began with a time of fellowship, followed by breakout sessions, during which members split into focus groups. Based on desired locations and initiative interests, designated groups allowed for training and discussion on how to serve the unreached through initiative efforts.
Group topics ranged from trip leader training and initiative skills coaching, to orphan care and cultural guidance for geographic communities. As groups came together, they prayerfully considered opportunities both locally and globally to reach their target communities.
According to PEACE Team Associate, Lauren Keck, “At Saddleback, we believe that every member is called to "live life on mission" and to be a part of the global effort to share Jesus. PEACE Practical helps equip members to reach the unreached through connecting with and training local churches globally. By mobilizing members of local churches worldwide, we can create a collaborative movement that empowers believers to share the name of Jesus where it has never been heard.”
PEACE Practical’s quarterly meetings are key to helping meet our Daring Faith “H” goal. To learn more about being part of what God is doing globally through PEACE, visit www.saddleback.com/missions or email peace@saddleback.com.
