Training For Healthy Families
10/23/2017 .This October, Saddleback Kids set the Daring Faith pace by working toward our goal to train 25% of our members to be global leaders in the church and ministry. On Wednesday, October 4, over 120 members attended Saddleback Kids Parenting Seminar to learn best practices for effective parenting.
Led by family life expert, Jim Burns, the session covered “Confident Parenting”—the first in a series hosted by Saddleback Kids.
“Parents were equipped with tools to become more confident as they work towards developing a healthy plan for the family,” says Lake Forest’s Weekend Children’s Pastor, Shawn Hyde. “They learned that most people tend to parent their kids by circumstance and chance. The seminar offered a comprehensive approach to develop a healthy, God-honoring parenting philosophy through several methods.”
Those who attended were given strategies on how to find replenishment for overcrowded lives, how to overcome negative family patterns, and how to create a grace-filled home. Other key topics included how to raise kids who love God, and how to foster communication with affection, warmth, and encouragement. Parents were also equipped with ways to tackle media influence and talk to their kids about God’s plan and purpose for sex.
After the success of the October gathering, plans are in place for the next round of Saddleback Kids Parenting Seminars on Wednesday, November 15 at 4:45 and 6:45 PM. Discussions on “Discipline Secrets” will be led by Steve Cuffari, a family therapist and founder of In Touch Parenting— a company devoted to helping parents calm the chaos, raise emotionally intelligent kids, and nurture families that thrive. Join Steve as he shares proven parenting techniques founded on a solid Biblical foundation.
