Suzanne Morissette, a drummer/percussionist from Quebec, Canada, received her Masters degree from the Conservatory of Music in Quebec and also graduated with honors at the
famous Percussion Institute of Technology (PIT) in Hollywood, CA. She has freelanced for the Quebec Symphony. Her show experience includes: The Bells of Santa Inez, conducted by Marty Paich, The Ice Capades, and a US tour with Gaelforce Dance (an Irish Dance Production) and The LA Circus. She performed and toured with fellow Canadian guitar player Brian Hughes and toured Japan with the Belle Air Brass and performed at the 2nd Annual Woman's Jazz Festival in Tokyo, and also played at the Montreal Drum Fest in Canada. With a power trio called Big Planet she won the Acoustic Group of the Year presented by the National Academy of Songwriters (NAS). Suzanne has also appeared on radio and television shows including: KLON with Chuck Niles, KTWV jazz brunch, KTLA Channel 5 Morning News, KCOP Channel 13, the Los Angels Marathon, KCAL Channel 9, Live in LA, CBS This Morning, CBS Radio, Quebec Canada, Radio Canada, Live Interview. Suzanne was on the cover of Drums Etc. magazine and in Modern Drummer, Los Angeles Times, Le Musicien Quebecois (Canada), Batteur magazine (Europe), the LA Jazz Scene, and BAM magazine.
For the last fifteen years she has been a member of The Jennifer York Quartet, with whom she currently records and performs around Southern California. The Quartet also performed at the Rochester Jazz Festival, Long Beach Jazz Festival, Catalina Jazz Trax, Lake Arrowhead and Lake Tahoe Jazz Festivals. Others performances include The Drifters, Nancy Sinatra, a project for Steven Dorff, famed country music producer, and the Humphrey Bogart Stamp Unveiling Ceremony at Mann's Chinese Theater in Hollywood. She also performed in Berne, Switzerland at the Innere Enge Resort.
Suzanne recently recorded a CD for Los Angeles jazz singer/Grammy Award winner Chris Bennett, and recorded for Mark Stephens, featuring Michael Brecker, Artist Alissa at Capitol Records, at Conway studios for Polygram, The Mad Hatter Studios with the York Quartet, and also with Jon Anderson on his solo album. She is also one of the regular drummers playing here at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, CA. Suzanne has been performing with the Mary Rice Hopkins's Children Ministry for several years, and appears every Saturday morning on the TBN Christian Channel. She has been the steady drummer for the World Famous Circus Flora, based in St. Louis.
Her broad-based knowledge of music with in-depth understanding of the role of percussion has made her a much sought after instructor. Suzanne has taught students for the last 10 years, and has held clinics and workshops in the US and Canada.
