WORSHIP THIS WEEK BACK IN CLUBHOUSE 5 - 9:30 ENGLISH, 11:30 KOREAN

Hello Saddleback Church Laguna Woods,

Wasn't Mother's Day great? All of us were blessed by the beautiful Korean choir and by our special guest artist Phil Meboe. All their songs touched our hearts. And Rick's message was so powerful! It sure challenged me and so many of you told me the same thing.

This week Rick is preaching again so I know you will want to join us. Don't forget to pick up your Mother's Day prints if you had your picture taken. We will be back in Clubhouse 5 at our usual times. That will be good, too.

We did decide to reschedule our 101 Class this Saturday. We will notify you of the new date very soon.

Finally, don't forget that on Thursday evening, we are having our monthly Evening of Worship. I sure hope you will join us as I am teaching on Getting to Know the God of the Bible. This month we look at God's Omniscience and His Self-Existence and Sufficiency. I know you will be blessed as we end with communion. Clubhouse 3, room 1, 6:30-7:30pm, Thursday.

WORSHIP CHANGES THIS WEEK ONLY - 10:00AM, CLUBHOUSE 3!

Sermon Update: This week we have Rick Warren's sermon, "Getting God's Vision for My Life." This would be a great week to invite Lake Forest friends to give our campus a try as our message is much more relevant to our stage of life. �

Hello Saddleback Church Laguna Woods,

What an exciting week this is at our campus. First, it's Mother's Day and we will be honoring all the women of our congregation, moms or not. Secondly, we are meeting in Clubhouse 3 for our final time of 2012. Lastly, because this will be a historic service.

Why do I say historic? Because for the first time we are combining our English and Korean services. These are a few of the reasons I believe this Sunday may be one of our best services of this whole year:

A special guest soloist singing two wonderful songs
Laguna Wood's Korean choir that will "Shower Blessings" upon us. That is the name of their song!
An excellent Rick Warren message
Our worship team leading us in several awesome, God honoring, songs
Individual or family pictures taken by our PICS team as free keepsakes
Coffee and our regular morning food served by 9:30am.

So a great morning it will be. Will you be there? I sure hope so. I don't want you to miss out!

I am writing early this week so that you can plan on attending one or more of our big events this week. Here they are:

�

Tuesday: Women's Spring Fashion Show and lunch. All tickets are sold out! The next one will be in the Fall.
Tuesday 4:30pm: Baptism Service on the Lake Forest campus (follow the signs to the Refinery building). Please come and support those getting baptized if you can. We will share dinner together at 5 as the Refinery offers $1 tacos on Tuesdays.
Friday: Men's breakfast and fellowship. At Clubhouse 3 at 9am we will share a full catered breakfast and hear from the author of SHAPE, pastor Eric Rees, and have other fun events. All for only $5 payable at the door. Please join the men of your church.

So, what a week it will be. I sure hope to see you. Of course the highlight will be our worship service next Sunday. We have a good one planned for you!

Hello Saddleback Church Laguna Woods,

Wasn't last Sunday great? I loved our Anniversary Party. I know you did too if you were able to be there. We have so very much to be thankful for, don't we?

This Sunday is BIG again. For the first time in our short history, we are changing the worship time. We will be meeting at 9:30 every Sunday starting this week.This will allow us to hold a second service in Korean at 11:30. I am so proud of your willingness to make that change! I really am.

But even before the big time change, we are going to enjoy an Evening of Worship together on Thursday. We will be studying God's Love and Faithfulness, singing some of our favorite hymns, and sharing communion together. It will be an evening that is going to touch your heart and mind. Clubhouse 3, 6:30pm, Room 1. I sure hope you are able to join us as these evenings are the highlight of my month.

Remember, with the service change time on Sunday, that means that the coffee and snacks will be served by 9 a.m. starting next week. They will be just as good as always!

Hello Saddleback Church Laguna Woods,

Are you ready to celebrate with a party? I sure hope so because that is what we will be doing on Sunday. This week is our three year anniversary of Saddleback Church Laguna Woods!

This Sunday we will . . .

�� Have a video retrospect of our three great years together.

�� Enjoy our Saddleback Church Island Worship Team (hula) as they demonstrate how their culture worships the Lord.

�� Share lunch together after the service. You can bring a dessert or salad or donate $5. Plan to stay and enjoy more Island Worship and fun.

�� Pick up your Easter photographs if you had one taken.

Easter was outstanding for us, but so will be this coming Sunday. Don't miss it if at all possible. Clubhouse 5, 10 a.m.

This Saturday, we are holding our next 101 Class. It is for anyone who would like to learn more about the history and beliefs of Saddleback Church. There will also be an opportunity to join the church but no pressure to do so. It is fast moving and interesting. Just come to Clubhouse 5, Room 1, 8:30 a.m. Coffee and snacks provided as well as free materials. Please hit reply to this email and tell us you will be there or just show up.

Remember, the following Sunday, April 22, we are changing our worship time to 9:30 a.m. so please put that on your calendar so as not to forget. This will allow us to hold a second service in Korean at 11:30. I am so proud of your willingness to make that change!

Easter is this Sunday! Are you ready to celebrate our risen Lord? I know I am. This should be and will be a real highlight of our worship year. We have some great plans but I would encourage you to be preparing your own heart for what the Lord may want to say to you personally.

John Osborn, world famous opera star, will be singing two of our favorite Easter songs. Lynnette Tapia, John's wife, may join him on one of them.

Now, watch and see how the Lord uses all this for His glory. I pray and believe it will be a magnificent Sunday. But it will not be as good without you and your family and friends there. See you Sunday in Clubhouse #3. (Not our normal #5).

By the way, the memorial celebration for our beloved usher, Barbara Reinig, will be on Saturday, April 7, at 10:30am in Clubhouse 1.

Hello Saddleback Church Laguna Woods,

Can you believe Easter is only one week away? What an amazing service we have planned. Remember, Easter is the one day we are not in Clubhouse 5. Clubhouse 3's, beautiful theater will again come alive in celebration of our risen Lord.

Here is some of what is planned for Easter Sunday:

I tell you all of this so that you can invite your friends and family to this very special day. They will thank you afterwards and all our faith will grow. I believe it will be the day that many people begin their walk with the Lord if we can just get them there. The service will start at 10am but come early if you can.

This week, Kay Warren is finishing her All Access series by talking about the Holy of Holies. It will be very moving and capped off by a celebration of communion. You will not want to miss it. Clubhouse 5, 10 a.m.

On Saturday, our study will be "Why we Know the Bible is True" taught by Tom Holiday (on video). Almost all questions about the Lord come back to the Bible so this study is extremely important. I hope you can be there to get your questions answered. Clubhouse 5, Room 1, 9 a.m.�

Hello Saddleback Church Laguna Woods,

Calling men golfers! Are you ready for some fun? Well, our brothers from the Village Church have challenged us to a little par 3 golf match this Saturday at 10:45am. Just show up, bring your clubs, and we will team up. I think a good time will be had by all.

Earlier on Saturday, I will be teaching on the Gifts of the Holy Spirit in Clubhouse 5, room 1, at 9am. There is so much misunderstanding on this subject when it is meant to bless all of God's people. Please join me if you can and bring your Bible. We will end early so as to be ready for the golf!

Of course the highlight of the week is always on Sunday when we all gather together to worship our Lord. It will just not be the same if you are not there. Clubhouse 5, 10am.

This week in Laguna Woods - March 18th

Hello Saddleback Church Laguna Woods,

Here we go. This is our busiest week in the month of March. But probably our most exciting, too.

First, on Thursday is our March Evening of Worship. Clubhouse 3, room 1. This month we are digging into God's Holiness, Omnipotence, and His Sovereignty. �Your trust in and love for God is going to grow this evening. I guarantee it! We will end with communion in worship of our worthy Lord.�

Second, is our much anticipated Good Neighbor Sunday. Even if you were not able to think of someone to give the certificate to, we need you to come to help congratulate these fine friends. To "sweeten the pot" we are having fresh baked cookies and ice cream immediately after the service and Lynette Tapia as our special guest soloist. Lynette is one of the best opera voices in the world. What a great day it will be.

So, see you on Sunday, clubhouse 5 at 10am, as we worship our Lord and learn a lesson in saying thank you.

Of course, Saturday is our Korean Interest Meeting. Please invite anyone desiring a worship service in the Korean language. Clubhouse 7, 9am. This meeting will be held in Korean.

This Week in Laguna Woods March 4th

Hello Saddleback Church Laguna Woods,

Do you have a good neighbor? Perhaps one you never have known how to best say thank you? We are going to give you that opportunity. This Sunday we are going to give you two professionally prepared "Good Neighbor Certificates." These certificates are beautiful in themselves and people will be honored to receive them.

However, it does not stop there. If they are able to come to church with you on March 18, we will honor them in the service and present them with a Saddleback Church gold medal medallion that is being prepared for this special event. They will love it and you will be thrilled for them.

Don't you think this will be fun? I do and can't wait. Jesus encouraged saying thank you when he commended the only one of ten people who came back and said "thank you" in Luke 17:11-19. We will be doing just that.

So, see you on Sunday, clubhouse 5 at 10am, as we worship our Lord and learn a lesson in saying thank you.

Hello Saddleback Church Laguna Woods,

Can I please tell you how much you warmed my heart on Sunday?

If you were not at our worship service, I told the congregation about the possibility of starting a weekly second service in Korean after Easter. When you all heard the reason why, the spontaneous applause was more than I could have imagined. I am so proud of you. And the cards that were turned in were almost unanimously in favor!

This coming Sunday (10am, Clubhouse 5) I will tell you all a little bit more especially about the interest meeting which will be held Saturday, March 17. If you are Korean and would like to give your input, I will be meeting with you following this Sunday's service for a few minutes.

Last week we had so many good times together. The Valentine Dance, the Evening of Worship, the worship service I mentioned, and then we had over 25 people attend the 101 and 201 classes on Sunday afternoon. I love being your pastor!

Hello Saddleback Church Laguna Woods,

Are you resting up this week? I sure hope you are because we have THREE big events you will not want to miss next week.

First, on Tuesday February 14, we are going to have an awesome Valentine Dance with the DB Cooper Band. After a wonderful dessert served to you at your table, we will enjoy listening to, or even dancing to, our 50s and 60s favorite songs. Get your tickets on Sunday for $10 ($12 at door) or by calling our church office (949-609-8574) to charge them. Clubhouse 5, 6:30pm.

Second, on Thursday February 16, is our monthly Evening of Worship. Clubhouse 3, room 1, at 6:30pm. We will be looking closely at the fact of God's infinity and His wisdom as we continue our year of "Getting to Know the God of the Bible Better." I promise you will never see God the same again. The evening will end with the celebration of communion.

Lastly, next Sunday, the 19^th, will be one of our Super Sundays. We will be offering our 101 Class (church membership) and our 201 Class (spiritual maturity) immediately following the worship service. If you have not taken either class, please hit reply to this email and tell us you are coming. Lunch will be provided and each class will be about 2.5 hours.

Of course, this Sunday, the 12^th, will be the continuation of our 40 Days in the Word study. For me, this is one of the Rick's best series ever. Please don't miss it. �

Did you know that Valentine of Rome was martyred in about 269 for standing firm in his faith in Christ? So, it is a great honor to still be celebrating his life.

Wasn't our start to 40 Days in the Word series awesome? Pastor Rick really hit it out the park. If you did not hear last week's sermon, please watch it on line or get the CD on Sunday. I think it is one of his most important ever. I can't wait till this Sunday's. I sure hope you will join me at Clubhouse 5, 10 a.m.

On Saturday morning, if you are not in another small group, I invite you to join us for the 40 Days in the Word small group study.� This campaign will just not be as effective in your life if you do not join this or another small group. Saturday, Clubhouse 5, room 1, 9 a.m. Coffee and snacks will be served.

Our next fun event is our VALENTINE DANCE on February 14. Whether you have a valentine or not, whether you like to dance or not, this evening will be for you. We have an awesome dessert planned and a great 50's & 60's band. 6:30 to 9:00 p.m, February 14, Clubhouse 5. Only $10. Tickets go on sale Sunday or call our office to charge them (949-609-8574). Please invite your neighbors as this is a great chance to show them the Christians can have a lot of fun. ��

This Week in Laguna Woods--Jan 15, 2012

Hello Saddleback Church Laguna Woods,

If I were to ask you, "Tell me all you can about the Holy Spirit." What would you say? Would it be more than a few sentences? And yet, the Holy Spirit is one third of the Trinity. We need to know more about Him. These next two Saturdays I will be teaching on this very important subject. I hope you will give our Saturday Bible Study a try. Clubhouse 5, room 1, 9am. Bring your Bible, please.

Then, on Sunday Pastor Rick has the introductory message to the 40 Days in the Word campaign. We will have the materials for your small group and the ability to sign up for one if you need to do that. I know it will be a grand morning. Sunday, Clubhouse 5, 10am.

Next week is our monthly Evening of Worship on Thursday, January 19 in clubhouse 3, room 1, at 6:30pm. We are going to be singing some favorite hymns, I will be teaching on "Understanding the Trinity," and then we will celebrate communion. Honestly, I believe our minds and hearts are going to be so lifted up that this may well be our best Evening of Worship ever. Get it on your calendar now!

Wasn't Buddy's message great on Sunday? I have heard that from many of you. I was so proud at your turnout on New Year's Day in a different clubhouse. I just wish Diane and I could have been there.

But, we will be back this week to greet you all (it's you'll here in Tennessee!) this coming Sunday. Don't forget, we are back in Clubhouse 5 at our regular 10am start time. I can't wait.

�

But even before Sunday, we are holding our next 301 Class. This is the class that focuses on how God has SHAPED and gifted you. I think it is the most fun class Saddleback offers because each person learns so much about themselves and how they can best serve the Lord. Saturday, 8:45 to 11:45, Clubhouse 5, room 1. Snacks will be provided.

I sure hope you are having a Merry Christmas. The season is off to such a good start in our church. But this is the best week of all.

Saturday brings our Christmas Eve Candle Lighting Service at 5p.m. in

Clubhouse 5. I sure hope you can come. It may be our best service of the year. Bring the whole family if they are in town.

�

Then, on Christmas morning at 10 a.m. in Clubhouse 5, I have the honor of preaching live. The Lord has been giving me a message that I can't wait to share about "What Really Happened on Christmas Morning." Only once in 7 years is Christmas on a Sunday so it seems even more special than usual. We are going to serve our donuts and treats!

�

Get the following week on your calendar now. New Year's Day we are worshipping in Clubhouse 2 at 10am. This is one of the few days we are NOT in Clubhouse 5. Pastor Buddy Owens is joining us and will be preaching live in Laguna Woods. What a new year's treat for all of us! Don't miss Pastor Buddy.

Hello Saddleback Church Laguna Woods,

I decided to send out my weekly email update early this week. That is because Thursday is the last day to buy tickets for our Christmas Dinner and Concert on December 18. You will have your choice of salmon, brisket (my favorite), or apricot chicken. Then, we have an amazing concert of Christmas music by numerous of Saddleback Church's best singers. It is kind of like a dinner theater with a holiday flavor. We will dress up and have a wonderful evening. All for only $20. Call Vicki at 949-609-8574 to charge your tickets.

Wasn't Sunday wonderful? I loved it and so many people, both new friends and regular members, told me that our Open House was what Christmas should always be like. Everyone felt loved and had a great time of food, fun, and fellowship. If you were not able to come, you missed a good time.

But more good times are coming. Our worship service this week has Rick Warren preaching and that is always great. Then, the concert/dinner that evening. So, Sunday in Clubhouse 5 at 10am will be the place to be!

The following week will feature our Christmas Eve candlelighting service on Saturday, Dec. 24 at 5pm. That may be our best service of the year. Then, Christmas Day at 10am, we are having a different, casual type of worship service and I have the honor of preaching live. I hope to see you at both services and remember to invite your family and friends.

This is a big week at our church. Good Neighbor Christmas Open House is this next Sunday. I sure hope you will invite your friends and neighbors. Remember, we will be having a full hot breakfast, free gift wrapping, card addressing, prayer, caroling, and Christmas portraits. All in Clubhouse 5 from 9:00 until noon.

�

Even if your neighbor does not want to come, you could ask them if they would like up to 5 packages wrapped for free or their cards addressed. Then, you could bring them with you. That act of kindness would really bless some people who can't get out to come on Sunday. I know it would.

�

Of course, prior to that is our Good Neighbor Open House Sunday on December 11. I am excited to see that so many of you have signed up to help. It will be breakfast, card addressing, gift wrapping, caroling, portraits, and prayer. Please invite your neighbors as this is a wonderful chance to bless them this season.

This Sunday Pastor Rick is back teaching as we are enter into the Christmas season. I sure hope you can be there. It is not the same without you. Clubhouse 5, 10 a.m. Coffee and treats served by 9:15.
