Talk It Over
The Fiery Furnace
Hey parents! Use these questions as a guide to talk over this week’s Bible story called The Fiery Furnace with your child after they’ve watched this week’s Church at Home early childhood video. Remember the Big Idea: I can be faithful by putting God first!
- What was your favorite part of the video we just watched?
- n today’s Bible story, what did King Nebuchadnezzar build that was big and gold? The king built a gold statue.
- Did Daniel’s friends, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, bow to the king’s statue? No. They did not bow to the statue. They knew God is most important.
- How can we be faithful and put God first? Like Daniel’s friends, we remember that no one is more important than God. We can practice putting God first by praying and talking to God when we first wake up. We can read the Bible before we read other books. We can tell God and others how much we love God. We can learn about God and do the things he says.
- What happened to the friends when they didn’t bow? The king was mad and put them in a fiery furnace. But God protected them from the hot fire!
- Why were Daniel’s friends, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, not afraid to go in the fiery furnace? They knew God’s promise to be with them wherever they went. God promises to be with us wherever we go, too. He helps us in different ways. We can remember that God loves us always.
Take some time to pray with your child. You might pray something like this: Dear God, thank you that you are faithful all the time. You love us always and promise to be with us. Help us be faithful to you, too. Help us choose to do the things you say and put you first. We love you. Amen.

DownloadUse crayons and watercolors to create this scene from the Bible story to remember that God kept Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego safe because they were faithful to him. Watch what happens when your child paints “fire” on their scene!
DownloadEach week we have activity pages for your child to remember the week’s lesson. They include new coloring pages and activity sheets for your child to enjoy!
