Talk It Over
Zacchaeus
Hey parents! Use these questions as a guide to talk over this week’s lesson, Zacchaeus, with your child after they’ve watched the video service!
- Did Zacchaeus have lots of friends? No. He didn’t have a lot of friends. They thought he was bad because he took money.
- How did Zacchaeus see Jesus? He climbed a tree!
- Show me with your arms how high you think he had to climb. Maybe there were cows – “Moo” like a cow! Maybe there were donkeys – Go “hee-haw” like a donkey! Maybe there were sheep – Let’s “baa” like sheep!
- What happened when Zacchaeus became friends with Jesus? Jesus said Zacchaeus was now in God’s family. Jesus helped him make good choices!
- Does Jesus want us to make good choices or bad choices? Good choices! Show me a thumbs up for good choices!
Take some time to pray with your toddler. Encourage them to sit with you and fold their hands, saying something like: “God, thank you for being our friend. Help us make good choices and be a good friend. We love you! Amen.”
As your child colors this coloring page, they will be reminded of Zacchaeus in a tree waiting to see Jesus.
DownloadThis week, your child will make a tree to put Zacchaeus in to remind them that Zacchaeus climbed in a tree so he could see Jesus! This craft was designed for classroom teaching with your toddler’s weekend leaders at church, and can be easily adapted for fun at home, too! Have fun engaging with the Bible story lesson.
DownloadPlay a game of I Spy to help your child remember that Jesus found Zacchaeus in a sycamore tree. Although this activity was designed for classroom teaching with your toddler’s weekend leaders at church, it can easily be adapted for fun at home, too!
