PEACE Center Expansions in SoCal
03/12/2016 .The month of March has been marked by Daring Faith miracles, starting with the expansion of three PEACE Centers. Saddleback campuses at Irvine South, San Clemente, and Anaheim stepped up to help meet our goal of assisting 250,000 people in need through our local PEACE Plan.
This commitment is a true test of faith for our church—to offer more resources and assistance to residents of our community. Through the PEACE Centers, we can identify the needs of our neighbors and respond by reaching out with the compassion of Jesus Christ.
According to Chris Goulard, Executive Director of PEACE Centers, these regional campus volunteers are putting Daring Faith in action. “It’s beautiful to see our members come alongside the community and share God’s love,” he says. “In the process, they too are growing in faith by serving others.”
From volunteers coming forward to residents engaging with leadership, the culture of giving to assist those in need is spreading from campus to community.
In addition to offering existing core ministries like the Food Pantry and Resource Coaches, other ministries will be available, including Tutoring, ESL Classes, Homework Club, and Legal Aid.
Target dates are quickly approaching. The PEACE Center expansions at Irvine South, San Clemente, and Anaheim are scheduled to open in the next year. Following these expansions are tentative plans to open PEACE Centers in Rancho Capistrano and Laguna Woods. Criteria for PEACE Center locations are based on infrastructure with useable space, a large volunteer network, and staff support.
According to Pastor Chris, meeting this Daring Faith goal requires an increased capacity of volunteers, resources, and finances. “Running a PEACE Center can only be done if people step forward,” he says. “There’s a great deal of commitment that we are counting on to meet this goal.”
Though we have many dedicated volunteers, we are looking for individuals that are committed to the long-term success and influence of our regional PEACE Centers. We are seeking volunteers who have the spiritual gift of mercy, to come alongside the hurting with love, persistence, and hope. Through this act of obedience, not only will our staff and church family grow, but thousands of lives will be impacted in and around Southern California.
Pastor Chris adds, “It changes both the culture of our campuses and the heart of our people. It's fantastic to see God working in their lives.”
