Matt Hall to Lead Saddleback South Manila
02/08/2017 .As part of our Daring Faith campaign, we want to grow our church family by filling God’s house. A key component in meeting this goal is our dedicated leadership and campus pastors who are committed to helping build God’s kingdom.
That’s why we’re excited to announce the new addition of Matt Hall who will be campus pastor of Saddleback South Manila! Taking a giant step of faith, he recently accepted the leadership position to help disciple the members and reach the South Manila community for Christ.
This truly was an answer to prayer, since Pastor Rick cast a vision for the “Three Manila Miracles” in December 2016. Together our members prayed that our South Manila campus would find a new campus pastor, a new building/location, and additional financial support.
“This answers one of the three miracles for Manila,” explains Kyle Cleveland, Pastor of International Campuses. “—A new leader to emerge and take the campus to the next level is a miracle only God could have done.”
To celebrate this new season of ministry, Pastor Rick extended a personal invitation for South Manila to welcome Pastor Matt, his wife Natalie, and their three children on Sunday, February 5th. To commission the new campus pastor was Ron Keck, Saddleback’s Pastor of International and Regional Campuses. Leading the church in prayer, Pastor Ron asked that God would have his hand on the Hall family, and that he would continue to do great things in the church.
“It’s a special day for Saddleback South Manila,” says Pastor Rick. “A few months back, I asked for our people to pray that we’d find the right person to be the pastor. While we interviewed many people, at that same time, God was putting it on the heart of Matt, who was already a pastor in our church family!”
According to Pastor Rick, the position couldn’t have been better suited for Matt and his wife, who have been leading student ministries at our Irvine South campus. With over 17 years of pastoral experience, they’ve led five PEACE Trips to the Philippines, helped launch South Manila’s youth program, and have remarkable family connections throughout that country.
Not only did Natalie spend 22 years in the Philippines, but she also speaks the language, and has been a huge advocate of Purpose Driven Church strategies since childhood. Having lived in the Philippines since 1975, Natalie’s parents are pastors of a PDC church in Lucena City, and currently train and equip leaders to plant their own Purpose Driven Church.
“I can’t think of a better family to lead Saddleback South Manila,” says Pastor Rick. “God has been preparing them for this new assignment, for which they are uniquely shaped to take on the adventure. They’re a power couple, and I’m so proud of this family and their faith to move back to South Manila. I believe in them, we all believe in them, and we’re excited for their commitment to take on this new role. It’s because of YOUR faith and service, that we’re seeing the miracles God has done and those he will continue to do.”
