Live Taping of The Beatitudes

Starting on March 13, Pastor Buddy Owens dedicated three days to teaching the new small group study on The Beatitudes. Filmed in front of a live audience, the recorded sessions will be part of a curriculum for distribution to Saddleback’s small groups in late spring.

This event marked the inaugural use of our new Interconnect Room. As a Daring Faith initiative, the new facility will train members using video conferencing and two-way interactive broadcasts with other campuses. In an effort to best utilize this cutting-edge technology, Team 201 teamed up with Video Production to create the first small group video materials produced in the Interconnect Room.

With future plans to live stream classes and training events, the new space has the potential to make a global impact. The Beatitudes study alone will serve as a tool to encourage fellowship and spiritual maturity of individuals and small groups in community. It also takes an in-depth look at The Beatitudes within the cultural context of the past, and how Christ’s message relates to us as the church today.

According to Spiritual Maturity Minister, Beth Graybill, this form of video teaching is extremely beneficial in equipping our members. “We are creating new rhythms of providing discipleship content that fits into the spaces where people are gathering and growing together,” says Beth. “More and more, this is happening online through on-demand video curriculum, live-stream options, and podcast recordings.”

Ultimately this method of training has the potential to reach a much broader audience than the live, in-person attendance at the Lake Forest campus alone.

“Now groups and individuals from all our regional campuses, as well as people around the world, will have access to new content through our website, saddleback.com,” adds Beth.

Not only are these efforts creating direct connection to our Daring Faith “I” goal, but they also provide a unique collaboration between three teams: The 101-Lake Forest Small Groups team, the 201-Spiritual Maturity team, and the Global Broadcast team.

This is just the beginning of integrating technology to train our members. Our next live-streamed event will take place on Thursday, April 6 in the Refinery Theater at Lake Forest, and will focus on The Purpose and Power of Prayer with Pastor Buddy Owens.
