Thanksgiving Prayer
11/18/2019 ..
Do you ever look back in time at a situation in your life and remember it differently? Suddenly a memory comes to mind and you see how God worked in it. This happened to me when my husband and I had been married for one year we started planning to have a baby. We originally thought we would not have any more children since we each had one already. We were becoming a blended family. We felt like with two daughters we had a full family. Then we decided it would be nice to have a child together. We still had some energy left. However, month after month we did not get pregnant. We decided if it didn’t happen we would not seek further medical help. We basically gave up. We had our two girls already and they were both such a blessing to us.
At the thanksgiving service that year Pastor Rick asked people who were having difficulty conceiving to stand up. I was actually really nervous thinking I didn’t want people staring at us. I didn’t want people thinking that something was wrong with us, wondering why couldn’t we get pregnant. Pastor Rick prayed for us that night and everyone else who was standing, he prayed a blessing over us from the Lord.
At Christmas we were pregnant, God had answered the prayer the Pastor Rick had prayed for us. Do you think I remembered that? No, I didn’t, all I could think about was that I was pregnant. I was so happy I was going to be a mom again. Planning and preparation became my focus. I forgot all about the church service where a prayer had been prayed over me for the very thing I was so happy about. At the end of the next summer I had my daughter. She was an answer to prayer and a gift from God. And honestly if you ask me when I gave God the credit, I don’t know. At some point I remembered the prayer. Of course I had thanked God for the pregnancy but I had forgotten Pastor Ricks prayer. This is just how life is, we forget where our thankfulness should go. The Lord worked through Pastor Rick and I am so thankful that Pastor Rick listens to God. And I am so thankful to the Lord for my precious 18-year-old daughter. She loves to hear the story of how she was an answer to prayer. God was faithful and I am so thankful. It showed me I need to be thankful every day for what comes my way, God is working even when i don't see it.
James 1:17 Every gift God freely gives us is good and perfect, streaming down from the Father of lights, who shines from the heavens with no hidden shadow or darkness and is never subject to change
