Your Result: A Daily Prayer Path

    06/25/2018

You are often seen as someone who others can confide in.  This is a special gift and makes you a strong agent of diplomacy in your workplace!  A Daily Prayer Path means inviting a coworker to walk and talk with you regarding their circumstances—this can be done around the office building or outside your office space. As you are listening to your coworker, pray FOR them or even WITH them regarding the situation.

    BEGIN:

You can start with just one other person, or even solo.   Pray and ask God who else to include in this time. Know that evangelism looks different in every context. Standing in your faith by praying FOR and WITH your coworkers, IS sharing your faith at work.

If you launch daily prayer on your own, either in quiet time at your workplace or during a prayer walk, you may eventually have opportunities to share this with others and then invite them to join.  Extend an invitation, and let them know it’s okay to bring another coworker. Be open to discussing what’s on their hearts. The journey you take in developing this rhythm with your coworkers will be most effective if done organically, so let it unfold with God’s leading.

Optimal group size is 2 to 4 people who can gather at least 10-15 minutes most work days for the purpose of developing a brief but consistent touch point to building relationships. Anytime of day will work as long as it’s consistent. Maybe a regularly scheduled morning walk, mid-morning break or after work time fits you and your coworkers best.

Consider the following factors that are unique to each workplace environment:

    •      Schedules
    •      Physical work space and surrounding area
    •      Workplace culture
    •      Expectations for listening and sharing
    •      Confidentiality

    FORMAT:

The Daily Prayer Path can be done in any quiet place you can find.  It may be a walk around the office building, pacing the hallway or stairwell, walking to get coffee, or at the water cooler.  Get creative! The point is to find a quiet, mutually beneficial location to share prayer requests, and lift up your coworker in prayer.

Be encouraged because prayer does not always have to look like heads bowed and eyes closed or before a meal. Often times, some of the best conversations with God can be had while driving to work.  After all, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 reminds us to pray without ceasing so that gives us a picture of an ongoing dialogue and conversation with God while engaging in the activities of life.

    Sample Schedule:

A helpful format to follow can be an acrostic- ACTS or PRAY. Both are simple to remember and represent key elements of prayer.

    (A) Adoration

“He is good; his love endures forever"  (2 Chronicles 5:13)

    (C) Confession

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”  (I John 1:9)

    (T) Thanksgiving

"Lord, teach me to offer you a heart of thanksgiving and praise in all my daily experiences of life. Teach me to be joyful always, to pray continually and to give thanks in all my circumstances. I accept them as Your will for my life." (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

    (S) Supplication

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened”  (Matthew 7:7-8).

    OR

    (P) Praise

“He is good; his love endures forever."  (2 Chronicles 5:13)

    (R) Repent

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”  (I John 1:9)

    (A) Ask

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened”  (Matthew 7:7-8).

    (Y) Yield

"Nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”   (Matthew 26:39)
