Celebrate-Home-Update-February 21
02/21/2022 .Generation to Generation
Not only are we launching a new group study called “Saddleback Generations” in March, we’ve launched “Celebrate Home” a 6 month long (January 2022 – June 2022) celebration of all that God has done here at 18842 Teller Avenue for the last 7 years.
I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart. I will tell of all Your wonders! Psalms 9:1
If you haven’t already, sign our Signature Wall in the worship center. It’s time lined from 2008 to 2022, to represent the history of Saddleback Irvine South. Even within this short 14 year period, we have various generations represented.
What’s great about generations?
-It ties us together-We can learn from each other
-We’re reminded of life, death and natural transitions
are some “generation” verses the Bible speaks to:
Older men… Older women… So that they may encourage the young women… Likewise urge the young men…- Titus 2
The council of the Lord stands forever the plans of His heart from generation to generation. - Psalm 33:11
And His mercy is upon generation after generation toward those who fear him. - Luke 1:50
What’s your favorite “generations” verse?
Here are the different generations and when they were born:
-Gen Z (1997-2012)-Millennials (1981-1996)
-Gen X (1965-1980)
-Boomers (1955-1964)
-Silent Generation (1928-1945)
What generation are you a part of?
My boys are Gen Z, Lindy is between Gen X and Boomer and as my boys like to say to me, “Dad, you’re such a Boomer!”
Call to Action: Prayer! See below
Moving and Search Update:
-Our last day to evacuate our current building is July 31, 2022-We will be organizing teams for the physical move and search
-We’re securing a temporary meeting worship space in Irvine to begin in July or August of 2022. Most likely a High School or Hotel.
-We’re searching for a new building and home in this search area: Jamboree to Barranca to Von Karmen to Main.
-We’ve put in a non-binding letter of intent on Jan. 25, 2022 to purchase a building in Irvine, waiting for owner’s response
-We’re searching and touring for temporary midweek office and ministry space in Irvine.
-The owner has signed the non-binding letter of intent!
-Please pray for the process of signing a binding purchase agreement (final price, deposit, due diligence period, etc.)
-Please pray fervently for our new home negotiations. We’ve hit a snag with the owner and some of his demands.
-We’re also looking earnestly for temporary weekday offices to facilitate our staff, and any week day or evening ministries. A space of about 8000-10,000 square feet. Why? Because even if we do possess a new home building, it will take at least 6 month to a year of renovation for it to be “church” ready.
