Day 11 – Pray to See Others the Way God Sees Them

March 30, 2023 .
Will Guzman

“God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” (Genesis 1:27, NIV)

When you look around at people — even people who are different from you — you must see them as God sees them! No matter how you feel, they are created in the image of God. For God, they are people worth dying for. God sent his Son to die for them. They matter to God, and therefore, they should matter to us. Pastor Anthony Miller put it this way, "You will never look into the eyes of someone Jesus doesn’t love!"

When we see people the way God sees them, we can start to affirm and appreciate them. When we appreciate people, we raise their value. How can you affirm people?

Listen to them. The Bible says that we are to "Share each other's troubles and problems" (Galatians 6:2, NLT). One of the greatest gifts you can give people is an attentive ear. When you look someone straight in the eye and listen to him or her, you're saying, "I value you."

Use positive words. The Bible teaches us to not use harmful words, but only helpful words, the kind that build people up (Ephesians 4:29).

God wants us to be people-builders. Most of the world is filled with people-users. God says when you speak positive words of encouragement — "Good job! Nice try! I appreciate what you did!" — you're ministering to people.

When you see people the way God sees them, you will start to see their potential, not their problems. You will help them find healing in their brokenness, and you will start to love them the same way Jesus loves you.

As you pray for breakthrough in a relationship today, ask God to open your eyes and show you how he sees the person you are praying for.
