Pray for Salvation for a Lost Friend or Family Member

April 3, 2023 .
Andy Wood

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:1-4, NIV)

Welcome to our third and final week of 21 Days of Praying for Breakthrough. We are going to focus this week on missional breakthrough. We are going to join God in praying for a powerful movement of the message of Jesus through our lives and our church. This week we are also preparing for Easter services, asking God to bless our efforts to reach many thousands of people with the Good News of Jesus.

I love this verse from 1 Timothy 2:4 that says, "[God] wants all people to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth." Paul encourages young Timothy to pray with urgency as he recognizes God's heart for every person to be saved.

Everyone in your life is someone who God wants to save!

We are encouraged to intercede, to make petitions, and pray. We are to do this from a grateful heart knowing the same God who saved us wants to save others. As you pray this week, I encourage you to start with your community. Pray for the city officials and leaders of the city you live in. Let's pray that God would use our church to reach them and impact their lives.

Would you join me in asking God to pour out his Spirit on our church and help renew in us a heart for those who don't know his love? Ask God to show you at least one specific name of someone in your life who is currently not saved or connected to Jesus. Ask God to use your life to make a difference in that person's life. Perhaps you might ask God to give you an opportunity to invite them to Easter services at Saddleback Church.

As you pray, keep reminding yourself that the same God who has brought you salvation wants to use your life to bring salvation to others. What a great thought to frame your prayers for breakthrough!

I love you and I'm praying for you today!
