    Resurrection of Purpose

    Tom Holladay | April 8, 2018

Do you ever wonder about what’s next in your life? On Easter weekend, thousands of people walked through the door to salvation, and are now ready to take their next steps in following Christ. In this message, Pastor Tom Holladay shares about the three things Jesus’s disciples did after the resurrection. You’ll learn what it means to cast your net on the other side, feed his sheep, and follow him. Don’t miss this message on the resurrection of purpose and what steps you need to take to make Christ the center of your life.

    Message Action Plan

    Message Action Plan

“Cast your net on the other side” - John 21:1-7

    1. Failure and discouragement do not mean you’ve lost your purpose.
    2. The secret to success is not trying harder
    3. The problem is not where I am, but who I’m listening to
    4. We are never far from success when we permit Jesus to be in charge

Action Plan:  Do a quick word study on the verb “cast” in scripture. For help, you can go to blueletterbible.com and type “cast” into the search bar. Think about how you could use that verb to draw closer to God in your daily walk this week.

Have a REAL relationship with Jesus – John 21:9-14

    1. Recognize His presence everywhere
    2. Enjoy His company
    3. Accept His invitations
    4. Look to His leadership

Action Plan: Get outside and take a walk.  Turn off digital devices, look around at creation, and have a conversation with God about what you see. Try this at different times of day this week and observe differences in what you see and hear.

“Feed My sheep” - John 21:15-17

    1. Make loving Christ my greatest priority
    2. Take to heart God’s forgiveness for my greatest sins
    3. Believe that you can and that you must make a difference in the lives of others

     “Follow Me” - John 21:18-22

    1. Stop Asking “Why me?”

Instead, say “I still want to live out Your purpose”

    1. Stop Asking “What about him?”

    Instead, remember:

It will be great in Heaven

It’s not the end of the story now.

Action Plan: Pray today for anyone you’ve been harboring a “what about them” attitude towards.  Ask God to bless and use him or her more effectively to reach the people in their sphere of influence. Try to make praying this way for others a regular part of your prayer life.

Doable Discipleship: This SPECIAL EPISODE of Doable Discipleship features an interview with speaker/author Greg Koukl on what it means to be an ambassador for Christ. You won’t want to miss it! New episodes release every Tuesday. To watch or listen, click here.

Talk It Over: Have you ever discussed the weekend message in your small group? Talk It Over provides weekly small group discussion questions as a way to bring the weekend message into your small group. To view this week’s Talk It Over, click here.
