    Description

You're invited to an evening with renowned painter Johan Andersson, a voice for the voiceless whose paintings boldly and defiantly celebrate how every person is uniquely made. His photo-realistic portraits confront issues of body image, prejudice,  discrimination, and identity stereotypes.

In an interview with SVA director Jason Leith titled Makers in a Disfigured World, Johan Andersson will address questions often running through the minds of creatives of faith:

    • What is our call as creatives in an unjust world?
    • How can we faithfully follow God while pursuing a creative career in the public sphere?
    • What would Jesus be creating artwork about if he were alive in the 21st century?

His famous image titled The Supper (riffing off DaVinci) asks the question: What unexpected, debatable people would be at Jesus' dinner table if it happened today? A poignant question to be asking the week before Easter. He’ll share his story of finding his footing in the art world while remaining a faithful to God, as well as the stories behind his well-known paintings.

Johan will take portions of the evening to paint live for us. Come and watch his process of creating his newest breathtaking canvas.

Johan was recently selected as one of the Top 100 Most Influential Creatives by TimeOut magazine. Johan's work is collected by major museums and institutions and he has sold work in Miami, Paris, New York, LA, and London. See more of his work at https://www.johanandersson.com/
