Saddleback Hosts Cast of The Good Lie Movie
09/28/2014 .“The Lost Boys” of Sudan were orphaned by the brutal civil war that began in 1983. The young survivors of the war traveled thousands of miles on foot in search of safety. Through humanitarian efforts, more than 3,000 of these children were brought to the United States.
And now, Hollywood is telling this important story in a new movie called The Good Lie. This powerful movie tells the story of the struggle and triumph of these boys who found hope, a new home, and purpose in America. The Good Lie features Academy Award winning actress Reese Witherspoon (Walk the Line) and executive producers Ron Howard and Bryan Grazer.
This weekend, Pastor Rick will interview two of the film’s stars, Emmanuel Jal and Ger Duany. These two men are more than actors—they were born in South Sudan during the country’s civil war. Emmanuel was forcefully recruited as child soldier, and both Ger ad Emmanuel survived the war, torture, and refugee camps through their amazing faith in Jesus. Pastor Rick will also be joined on stage by producers Molly Smith (The Blind Side) and Thad Luckinbill.
