Prayers For The School Year - Working And Schooling At Home
08/15/2020 ..
I know the challenges of working full time from home and homeschooling. I want to encourage you who are just starting down this path or returning to it again this school year. I developed this list of short prayers to help you kick off a year of schooling, and many of you working, from home. You can return to these short prayers all year so keep them handy. I encourage you to pray these prayers regularly until you start the school year and return to them throughout the year. As the year progresses, add to it with your own personal prayers. Remember when times get tough, and they will (just being real we all have hard times), turn to God…turn to prayer.
A PRAYER TO BLESS THE YEAR AHEAD
God, we know you are able so please bless us with a successful school and work year. Bless our relationships, our work, our learning and supply our needs.
And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8
PRAYER FOR WISDOM
Lord, please give me wisdom to teach my child(ren). When I feel inadequate remind me to come to you, the Creator of all things and the generous giver of wisdom. Surround me with the resources and people my family needs in this season.
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
James 1:5 NIV
PRAYER FOR YOUR CHILDREN TO BE DILIGENT STUDENTS AND TEACHERS TO TEACH WELL
Father, help my child(ren) to be good students. In turn, help me to see that all children learn differently. Help me see my child(ren) as whole persons with deep value and not just minds to educate. Help me and others teaching my child(ren) to develop their learning style and foster a love for learning.
Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future. Proverbs 19:20
For wisdom is better than jewels, and all that you may desire cannot compare with her. “I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion. Proverbs 8:11-12
PRAYER FOR HELP IN MULTITASKING AND BLESSINGS IN WORK
Father, You gave us an example of what it looks like to live a life with work life balance in Proverbs 31. Give me the ability and energy to multitask as she did in work, home, and caring for children which would have included their education. Show me how to manage my day and use the resources you have given me. Help me to live a dutiful life that you will bless. Lord, multiply my time and bless my work.
Read Proverbs 31:10-31
PRAYER FOR PATIENCE AND ENDURANCE
Lord, please give me patience and endurance for the school year ahead. Give me discernment and discipline to manage my day for myself and my child(ren). Help me not to lose sight of the relationships under my roof while I focus on the tasks that need to be done. When we want to give up show us another way and help us to endure.
Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
Galatians 6:9
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9
PRAYER FOR PEACE, COMFORT, AND TRUST
God, Comfort us when things don’t go as planned. Fill our home with peace. We know you are the author of peace and not confusion so when things start to feel out of control help us to refocus on You. Guard our hearts and minds throughout the school year.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11
For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. 1 Corinthians 14:33
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7
PRAYER FOR KNOWLEDGE OF GOD
Above all, grow my family’s desire to know You. Supply us with your wisdom which is not the wisdom of this world. Lead and guide us in worldly knowledge in a way that will draw us closer to you and that will show us your fingerprint on everything.
Yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. Proverbs 2:3-5
Amen and Amen.
Be blessed this school year, my friend. You’ve got this because God’s got you.
