Business Summit Purpose of Work
04/30/2018 .As the “T” goal of Daring Faith, Saddleback is helping train 25% of our members to be global leaders in the church and ministry, in business and the community, and in the arts and media. That’s why on April 21, Saddleback Hong Kong hosted the Business Summit: The Purpose of Work.
Held in partnership with the top business schools in Hong Kong, the full-day summit was designed for executives and professionals seeking direction, advancement, fulfillment, and transformation in their careers. In attendance were 300 people, coming from across the region.
“Already 25% of our own Saddleback Hong Kong members are trained leaders,” explains Pastor Stephen. “We are also training up Purpose Driven leaders around Hong Kong and coordinating PD development across Southeast Asia.”
As the ideal platform to equip the pioneers of tomorrow, the conference discussed why our society is working so hopelessly, and how to bring substance to life. To address these topics, the Business Summit invited a dozen distinguished speakers from a diverse range of industries and academic backgrounds. Among the respected leaders were Saddleback Hong Kong’s campus pastor, Stephen Lee, and our own Pastor Rick who shared a powerful message by video.
Other guest speakers included Chief Government Secretary for Administration, Matthew Cheung, Co-Founder of DHL International; Dr. Po Chung, Professor at the Institute of Advanced Management Development; Dr. Darwin Chen, CEO for Citi Bank Hong Kong and Macau; and Weber Lo, CEO of MLA Foundation.
The main goal was to help people discover their purpose of work by awakening their desire to work. Focusing on this theme, the event built off the acronym: DESIRE: Discover core competencies, Explore your passion point, Seek opportunities to grow, Identify your mission, Relate to like-minded people, and Extend your influence and network.
Those who attended had the opportunity to give back in the process, since all proceeds supported the underprivileged who could not otherwise attend. This act of generosity helped equip people in need with tools to discover the purpose and joy of work. To learn more about Saddleback Hong Kong’s Business Summit, visit www.hksummit.hk.
