Exploring Adoption: Is Adoption or Foster Care Right for You and Your Family?
10/27/2016 .Updated May 10, 2018
If you’ve ever thought about adopting or fostering, you are not alone. Did you know that 1 out of 4 couples have considered adoption or foster care? The three most common reasons given by families are to provide a permanent home for a child who needs one, to expand their family, and/or because of infertility. No matter why you have considered it, there is a place where you can get accurate information, simple overviews, and your questions answered. During May and June, Saddleback Church will be hosting an informational seminar, called Exploring Adoption or Foster Care for My Family, at several locations in Southern California.
Come learn the current state of vulnerable children both locally and globally. The Orphan Care Initiative will be on-hand to provide information and answer questions in a no-pressure environment. Our desire is not to influence your decision, but to give you the info you need to make a prayerful decision. We’ll share simple ways to prayerfully consider whether or not adoption or foster care is right for you.
You'll also discover how adoption was God’s idea from the beginning for all of us. The apostle Paul said, “But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, ‘Abba, Father’” (Galatians 4:4–6). Sharing God’s heart for the orphan is a unique feature of this seminar.
Another great benefit is meeting and hearing from ordinary people who have adopted or fostered children, and how it has impacted their family. Watch this video to hear from other families who attended the seminar and later found themselves on the foster/adoption journey.
