Daring To Grow A Deep Soul

    Saddleback Church | May 10, 2015

What kinds of things do you want from this life? Some people will say, “A desire to be loved.” Others will say, “To be a part of something.” Many will say, “To leave a legacy.” There is nothing wrong with those goals or daring to dream big. When people list their goals, very few will say something like, “I want to grow a deep soul.” Why is that? A soul is eternal, while other goals will come to an end on this earth. Daring to grow a deep soul is attainable by everybody. In this message, Kay Warren and her daughter Amy teach about growing a deep soul.

    Message Action Plan

    Dear Saddleback Family,

In last weekend's message, Kay Warren and her daughter Amy taught us how to grow a deep soul by making God the center of our lives. As you go through your week, use the Message Action Plan below to help put the things you've learned into practice.

DARING TO GROW A DEEP SOUL

Daring Faith: The Key to Miracles – Part 8

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind."  Matthew 22:37 (NIV)

Spiritual Growth Is a Process in Which God and I Each Have a Part

    1. How Do You Need to Respond to God's Invitation This Week?

      God's Part: He Invites

      My Part: I Respond

Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.  Ephesians 1:4 (NLT)

Humbly welcome the Word, which has been planted in you and can save your souls.  James 1:21b (NJB)
    2. How Do You Need to Seek God with All Your Heart This Week?

      God's Part: He is Found

      My Part: I Seek Him

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.  I will be found by you, declares the Lord . . .  Jeremiah 29:13-14a (NIV)

My heart says of you, 'Seek his face!' Your face, Lord, I will seek.  Psalm 27:8 (NIV)
    3. What Do You Need to Learn from God This Week?

      God's Part: He Teaches

      My Part: I Learn

"When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth."  John 16:13a (ESV)

Solid food is for those who are mature, who have trained themselves to recognize the difference between right and wrong and then do what is right.  Hebrews 5:14 (NLT)
    4. How Do You Need to Trust God to Endure Evil This Week?

God's Part: He Brings Good from Evil

      My Part: I Endure

We are well aware that God works with those who love him, those who have been called in accordance with his purpose, and turns everything to their good.  Romans 8:28 (NJB)

We pray that you'll have the strength to stick it out over the long haul — not the grim strength of gritting your teeth but the glory-strength God gives. It is strength that endures the unendurable and spills over into joy.  Colossians 1:11 (Msg)
    5. How Could You Begin to Move from Frantic Activity to a Fruitful Life This Week?

What Happens When I Stop Growing?  Emptiness and Frantic Activity

This what the Lord says: 'Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans and turn their hearts away from the Lord.  They are like stunted shrubs in the desert, with no hope for their future. They will live in the barren wilderness, on the salty flats where no one lives.'  Jeremiah 17:5-6 (NLT)

What Happens When I Dare to Grow a Deep Soul?  Fruitfulness in Every Season

But blessed are those who trust in the Lord, and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they go right on producing delicious fruit.  Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NLT)

    6. Tell God by Faith Right Now That You Trust Him to Finish What He Has Started in You.

God's Guarantee: He Will Finish What He Has Started

And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ (right up to the time of His return), developing that good work and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you.  Philippians 1:6 (Amp)
