    The Courage to Keep Going

    Andy Wood | October 16, 2022

So often, when we begin the pursuit of a dream, we start out strong — but a good beginning doesn’t guarantee a strong finish. This week, Pastor Andy Wood wraps up the Uncommon Courage series by talking about the courage to keep going and how to finish well.

    Message Action Plan

    Talk It Over

    Message Action Plan

    Passages: Joshua 13-17 (NIV)
    Points to Remember:

    Finishing well requires fresh courage!

3 Keys to Keep My Courage:

    1. I will work from God's eternal promises

    Enemy #1: Apathy

Where is apathy preventing me from advancing on God's promises?

ACTION PLAN: What is an area of life you consider to be "good" but not "great"? Where has apathy taken root? Take some time to ask God what it would look like if that part of your life was great. Write down anything that God brings to mind. If you would like some help, read through these verses before you talk with God: 2 Timothy 1:7, James 1:5, Psalm 32:8, Ezekiel 36:26.

    2. I will work with God's limitless resources

    Enemy #2: Entitlement
    Entitlement: I don't have what I deserve.
Empowerment: I will develop what I do have.

What resources from God am I overlooking?

ACTION PLAN: Walk through the exercise Pastor Andy suggested. Draw a triangle. At the top of the triangle, write the word "Time". At the bottom left, write the word "Talents". At the bottom right, write the word "Treasure". Focus on each of these areas of God's provision, thank Him for them. Then think through how to better use these resources in service to God's mission.

    3. I will work for God's greater purposes.

    Enemy #3: Fear.
What are you avoiding that you should be addressing?
Reminder: The greater the cause, the greater the courage.
The purpose that requires the most courage: sharing the Good News about Jesus.

ACTION PLAN: Who has God placed in your life who doesn't yet know Jesus? Take a step of courage and invite them to next week's Block Party.
