Look at them with love

Invest in as much time as needed

Share their feelings, not your solution

Tune into any fear or hurt beneath the words
". . . Be sympathetic, loving each other like family, and be kind and humble." 1 Peter 3:8

Engage them with open-ended questions

Never judge anything until you have all the facts

Affirm the positive alternative

Keep calm & don't argue
