    Message Action Plan

    Passage: Joshua 1:1-9

Where do you go when you realize you need courage?

    1. Connect with the cause for my courage

ACTION PLAN: Write down three areas where you need the courage to change. For each area, connect at a heart level with the why…why does this need to change? Read the passage from this week's sermon and underline every time God told Joshua to be strong and courageous. Ask him to tell you why he reminded him so often. If you're dealing with the effects of a particular hurt, habit, or hang-up, find out when and where the next Celebrate Recovery meeting will be and go this week.

    1. Cultivate the condition of my heart.

ACTION PLAN: Make an appointment to spend time with God. During that time, focus on him, and ask the Holy Spirit to guide your time and make you aware of his presence. Read Joshua 1:5. As you rest in his presence, ask that your hearts will align, that you will begin to love and care for the same things that he loves and cares for. Ask him to show you areas in your heart that are weak. Make the decision to seek his presence every day, to be transformed through the power of his presence.

    1. Contemplate God's word continually.
ACTION PLAN: Take a piece of paper and fold it in half, then half again. At the top of one of the quarters, write a verse to focus on for the next week. Meditate on the verse you wrote on the top of the page throughout each day. Beneath the verse, as God speaks to you throughout the week with this verse, write down any bullet points you want to remember. Each week, memorize each verse you chose. At the end of the week, reflect on how your courage has grown as you have allowed the truth of God's word to strengthen you. Verses you may consider using:
    Psalm 32:8 // Romans 8:1 // Philippians 4:6 // Proverbs 3:5-6 // Deuteronomy 31:6 // Romans 8:11 // 2 Corinthians 5:17
