WHY YOU NEED A TEAM FOR YOUR LIFE
- TO MAKE UP FOR MY WEAKNESSES
“I want us to help each other with the faith we have. Your faith will help me, and my faith will help you.” Romans 1:12 (NCV)
- TO BRING OUT THE BEST IN ME
“Just as iron sharpens iron, friends sharpen and shape each other.” Proverbs 27:17
- TO GET MORE DONE
“Two people are always better than one, because they can accomplish more by working together.” Ecclesiastes 4:9 (NCV)
- TO HELP ME GET BACK UP WHEN I STUMBLE
“If you fall, a companion can help you get up. But if you fall by yourself you’re in real trouble because there’s no one to help you.” Ecclesiastes 4:10 (CEV)
- TO RESIST ATTACKS AND CRITICISM
“By yourself you’re unprotected. An enemy can attack and defeat you. But two can stand back-to-back and resist, and a team of three is even better, like a triple-braided rope which does not break easily.” Eccl. 4:12 (Mes/NLT)
WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN CHOOSING YOUR TEAM
- CHOOSE PEOPLE WHO WANT TO LOVE AND SERVE GOD
“Don’t team up with those who reject God. How can you make a partnership out of right and wrong? That's not partnership; that's war! Can light be best friends with darkness? How can Christ and Satan agree on anything?” 2 Cor. 6:14 (Mes/LB)
“Do not be misled: Bad company corrupts good character.” 1 Cor. 15:33 (NIV)
Action Plan: Make a plan with your family, small group, or by yourself to do Journey with Jesus this Easter season. Self-guided and guided tours are available as well as the Journey with Jesus app. Click here to learn more.
- CHOOSE PEOPLE COMMITTED TO GROWING IN CHARACTER
“People with integrity have firm footing, but those who follow crooked paths will slip and fall.” Proverbs 10:9 (NLT)
“God has no use for conceited people, but He shows favor to those who are humble.” Proverbs 3:34 (TEV)
“Generous people will be blessed . . .” Proverbs 22:9 (NCV)
“Godly people will grow and flourish like palm trees . . . even in old age they will still bear fruit, and they will stay fresh and green!” Psalm 92:12-14
Action Plan: If you’re not in one already, now is the perfect time to start or join a small group. Click here for information on being in a group.
- CHOOSE PEOPLE WHO DO WHAT IS RIGHT EVEN WHEN IT’S HARD
“If you are careful to obey whatever God commands, then you will be doing what is right and good in God eyes. Then, he will help you, and your children, to be successful.” Deut. 12:28 (CEV)
“People who do what is right may have many problems, BUT the Lord will solve them all.” Psalm 34:19 (NCV)
- CHOOSE PEOPLE WHO HANDLE CRITICISM BY FOCUSING ON GOD
Jesus said, “You should be happy when you are attacked and persecuted for doing what God has told you to do. It shows that you belong to the kingdom of heaven. And God will bless you when people insult you, or hurt you, or say all kinds of evil lies about you because of me. Be happy and glad, because you will be given a great reward in heaven! People did these exact same things to God’s prophets who lived long ago. You are the salt of the earth!” Matthew 5:10-12 (CEV)
“Do not lose your courage, because it brings with it a great reward!” Hebrews 10:35 (TEV)
- CHOOSE PEOPLE WHO TAKE BOLD RISKS IN FAITH
“Along with Paul and Barnabas, we are sending some men who have risked their lives for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Acts 15:26 (NIV)
“David served God’s purpose in his generation, then he died.” Acts 13:36
“EVERY child of God can defeat the world, and our FAITH is what gives us this victory! No one can defeat the world without having faith in Jesus as the Son of God.” 1 John 5:4-5 (CEV
