      Triumph Over Stressful Times

      Steve Arterburn | October 24, 2021

We have a Father who loves us, a Son who saves us, and a Holy Spirit that guides us. This triune God is available to all of us. In this message, Pastor Stephen Arterburn shares the six things the Trinity might say to us when we're going through a stressful time in our lives.

      Message Action Plan

      Message Action Plan

      We've got this
Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light." Matthew 11:28-30 NLT

Action Plan: What are you trying to carry all on your own?  Write out what part of that burden is actually yours to act on. Then act on it. All the other parts that require someone else to bring about, give over to God instead.  Ask Him to guide you. Take 15-minutes to walk through this "Well" exercise to go deeper into this passage.

      We can work with that
"And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them." Romans 8:28 NLT

We want you to work with us and do your part
"But don't just listen to God's word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don't obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don't forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.  " James 1:22-25 NLT

Action Plan: Ask God to bring a person to mind that is in your circle.  Reach out this week and serve that person, letting them know both you and Jesus loves them.

When you do your part, we will help you with the parts that hurt
"He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us." 2 Corinthians 1:4 NLT

We want you to be part of a we
"Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose. " Philippians 2:2 NLT

"To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said."      1 Corinthians 12:8-10 NLT

We hold your future, and we know it is all going to be o.k.
"So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor." 1 Peter 5:6 NLT

"I will be your God throughout your lifetime— until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you."  Isaiah 48: 4 NLT

Action Plan: Print out Isaiah 48:4, memorize this verse, say it over and over this week, then place it in a prominent area where you will see it daily.

      Conclusion

"But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.  And we are confident in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we commanded you. May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ." 2 Thessalonians 3:3-5 NLT
