    Living By God's Promises

    Saddleback Church | April 30, 2017

Have you ever faced a problem in your life that seemed too big to overcome? Did you feel like you were destined to live with the outcome no matter how much you believed? The Bible tells us that faith can move mountains and that God faithfully keeps his promises. In this message at Saddleback Church, Pastor Tom Holladay shares the importance of putting our faith in the promises of God and how to move mountains in our lives. Learn how to see with eyes of faith instead of eyes of fear by thinking big, starting small, and trusting God for miracles.

    LIVING BY GOD’S PROMISES
    Tom Holladay
    April 29-30, 2017

“Let’s keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. God always keeps his word.”        Hebrews 10:23(The Message)

“God faithfully keeps his promises.”  1 Corinthians 1:9a(GW)

“I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”  Matthew 17:20(NIV)

    1. THINK BIG

“Nothing will be impossible for you.”

“God can do anything, you know — far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us. . .”  Ephesians 3:20(The Message)

“I can guarantee this truth: Those who believe in me will do the things that I am doing. They will do even greater things because I am going to the Father.”  John 14:12(GW)

“Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God.”  2 Corinthians 3:5(NASB)

ACTION PLAN: If you did not do so during the service, take a moment here. In the box below, write your answer to the question, “What is the greatest thing you can imagine God doing in your life?” Take this into your prayer time every day this week.

    1. START SMALL

“. . . if you have faith as small as a mustard seed. . .”

    1. Listen to God.

“I listen carefully to what God the Lord is saying. . .” Psalm 85:8(NLT)

ACTION PLAN: Do you ever take the time to be silent during your quiet time with God? Make it a point to spend a few minutes each day this week just being silent and resting in God’s goodness.

    1. Tell God what you need.

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” Philippians 4:6(NLT)

“You do not have what you want because you do not ask God for it.”        James 4:2b(GN)

ACTION PLAN: As Pastor Tom suggested, make Philippians 4:6 your refrigerator verse this week.

    1. Forgive those who hurt you.

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”  Ephesians 4:32(NIV)

“Love keeps no record of wrongs.”  1 Corinthians 13:5b(NIV)

ACTION PLAN: Have you been withholding forgiveness from someone? Ask God to change your heart and give you the power to forgive those who hurt you.

    1. Thank God.

“You are my God, and I will thank you; you are my God, and I will praise your greatness.”  Psalm 118:28(NCV)

“For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ.” 2 Corinthians 1:20a(NIV)

ACTION PLAN: Start a gratitude list. Each morning add one new thing to the list for which you are grateful to God. You can go back to this list whenever you are frustrated or feeling overwhelmed.
