Message Notes:
To be cast: Flipped upside down, stuck, helpless, and in danger.
Why does this happen?
● Seeking comfort in wrong places.
● Overgrown and dirty.
● Overweight and unhealthy.
The Good Shepherd is a rescuer and a restorer.
Overcoming The Lies That Keep Me Stuck:
Lie 1: I don’t need to be restored .
● Repent for getting myself into a ditch.
Lie 2: It’s too painful and not worth it .
● Resolve to endure the process of transformation.
Lie 3: God can’t do it for me .
● Receive His personal care for me.
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)
God can restore:
● Hardened hearts
● Missing joy
● Broken families
● Health (physical, emotional and mental)
● Lost years (Joel 2:25)
INDIVIDUAL ACTION PLAN: If you feel like your life is upside down and you’re stuck, reach out to www.Saddleback.com/
FAMILY ACTION PLAN: For families with small children, have them draw pictures of sheep. While they are drawing their sheep, talk to them about Jesus as the good shepherd.
For families with teens and pre-teens, challenge the entire family to memorize Psalm 23 along with the church. This week, memorize Psalm 23:1-2, “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters”
Diving Deeper: This week’s reading from “ A Shepherd Looks At Psalm 23” by Phillip Keller is: Chapter 3: “He makes me lie down in green pastures” and Chapter 4: “He leads me beside quiet waters”
