    Store It or Pour It

    Kurt Johnston | September 19, 2021

Everything that Jesus said is important, true, and authoritative. But there are certain things Jesus said that seem to jump right off the page. In this message, Pastor Kurt Johnston walks through two specific teachings of Jesus that define who we are as Christians.

    Message Action Plan

Jesus replied, "You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself. The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments." Matthew 22:37-40 (NIV)

Jesus came and told his disciples, "I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age."   Matthew 28:18-20 (NLT)

    God Is Pouring Into Me

When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior. Because of his grace he made us right in his sight and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life. Titus 3:4-7 (NLT)

ACTION PLAN: What is your distinct SHAPE? Saddleback Class 301 describes and emphasizes your own individual "S-H-A-P-E" for ministry and serving. If you have not taken this class, sign-up at saddleback.com/class so you can identify God’s "SHAPE" of your life to serve him!

ACTION PLAN: Think back to how God has worked in your life. Write out the names of the people who poured into your life in profoundly positive ways. Consider how they impacted your life, then write a note of thanks to each of them this week.

I have a decision to make:

    Store It =   SAFE, STERILE…
    but… STAGNATION…

    Or

    Pour It = MESSY, MUDDLED…
    but… MULTIPLICATION…

ACTION PLAN: Think about your neighborhood, place of employment, extended family, church activities, and various other regular things in your life. Make a list of at least three people into whose lives you could "pour your life." Then take a step to do so.
