      Trusting God Through Trouble

      Buddy Owens | November 11, 2018

Trusting God is easy when life is going well. But trusting God when you’re in trouble is an entirely different thing — especially when you don’t feel like you’ve done anything to deserve it. It’s in those times when our trust in God is put to the test. In this message, Pastor Buddy Owens teaches us how to cultivate a life of faith, even when going through times of adversity. When you’re going through a storm, God is not standing on the other side, waiting for you to figure things out on your own. He is walking through the storm with you. Your trouble is not the end of the story ... it’s the beginning of something beautiful.

      Message Action Plan

      Message Action Plan

      • TRUST: TO ALLOW SOMEONE TO DO SOMETHING WITHOUT FEARING THE OUTCOME.

"The Lord has his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet."  Nahum 1:3 (NKJV)

"We do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
      2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (NIV)

"I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you."  Ephesians 1:18 (NIV)

"We are: hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed." 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 (NIV)

      • NEVER PUT A PERIOD WHERE GOD PUT A COMMA!
      • WHICH SIDE OF THE COMMA AM I LIVING ON?

Action Plan:  Using 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 as shown above as a template, write down each of your troubles before the comma, and include the appropriate phrase above after the comma.  Example: I am struggling with my health, but not in despair.

      • THE SEED OF FAITH, PLANTED IN THE SOIL OF ADVERSITY, UNDER THE WATCHFUL EYE OF THE GARDENER, WILL BRING FORTH LIFE AND BEAUTY IN ITS SEASON.

"We live by faith, not by sight."  2 Corinthians 5:7 (NIV)

      • PREPARE FOR A HARVEST

Action Plan:  This might be the perfect time for you to look into getting Christian counseling. If so,click herefor more information on Saddleback’s counseling ministry.

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."         Galatians 6:9 (NIV)

"Praise be to the God and Father of or Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God."   2 Corinthians 2:3-4 (NIV)
