    Sharing The Good News

    Saddleback Church | December 20, 2015

What is the Good News, and what can I do about it? The message of Christmas doesn’t have to be complicated; it’s a simple, powerful story. One of the key ways to experience God’s peace in your life is sharing the story with others. Pastor Tom Holladay continues the Peace on Earth series by bringing us a simple, practical message on sharing the Good News this Christmas. You will learn what the Good News is and how sharing this simple message can change someone’s life.

    SHARING THE GOOD NEWS
Peace on Earth — Part 3
    Tom Holladay
    December 19 & 20, 2015

"But the angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.'"    Luke 2:10 (NIV)

    WHAT'S THE GOOD NEWS?
    The Christmas Story

"And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel." Genesis 3:15 (NIV)

"I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore . . . through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed . . Genesis 22:17-18a (NIV)

"I am the LORD. I will free you from your oppression and will rescue you from your slavery in Egypt. I will redeem you with a powerful arm and great acts of judgment." Exodus 6:6 (NLT)

"When anyone brings from the herd or flock a fellowship offering to the LORD to fulfill a special vow or as a freewill offering, it must be without defect or blemish to be acceptable." Leviticus 22:21 (NIV)

"Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me; your throne will be established forever." 2 Samuel 7:16 (NIV)

"The Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel." Isaiah 7:14 (NIV)

"But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah . . . out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times." Micah 5:2 (NIV)

". . . Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod . . ." Matthew 2:1a (NIV)

". . . I came to give life — life in all its fullness." John 10:10b (NCV)

ACTION PLAN: In your quiet time this week, think about the fullness of the Christmas story as seen throughout the Bible. Thank God for the good news that causes great joy.

WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT IT?
    Your story

"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." Romans 12:21 (NIV)

". . . The shepherds said to one another, 'Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.' So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child." Luke 2:15-17 (NIV)

    1. Come and See.
    2. "God was in Christ, making peace between the world and himself. In Christ, God did not hold the world guilty of its sins. And he gave us this message of peace." 2 Corinthians 5:19(NCV)

    3. Go and Tell.

"Make the most of your chances to tell others the Good News." Colossians 4:5a (TLB)

      See your importance.
    4. "But how can people call for help if they don't know who to trust? And how can they know who to trust if they haven't heard of the One who can be trusted? And how can they hear if nobody tells them?" Romans 10:14 (MSG)

      • Start Where You Are

"So we are Christ's ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, 'Come back to God!'" 2 Corinthians 5:20 (NLT)

      • Say What you know.

"I do everything to spread the Good News and share in its blessings." 1 Corinthians 9:23  (NLT)

ACTION PLAN: Search your list of contacts for people you can share the Good News with. Choose at least one person then call, text, or email an invitation for them to attend one of Saddleback's Christmas services with you.

Have Daring Faith: Pass out invitations to the Saddleback Christmas services at Drive-Thru's or as you check out at local restaurants and businesses.
